Over time the collection has grown into a private museum which includes technical books and research gathered from Canada, England and the US, in addition to projectors, films and Magic Lantern slides. The goal has been to assemble representative examples of major types of motion picture projectors and Magic Lanterns and restore them to operating condition in order to understand the evolution of technology right up to modern times. The focus has always been on the exhibition of the projected image and the Showmen and Projectionists who in the words of D.W. Griffith, "are compelled to redirect the Photoplay". This private museum is open by appointment only. It houses a 40-year collection devoted to preserving the history of cinema technology and Arizona film history. |
