On June 14-15 and 21-22, 2019 the Highland Center’s 6th Annual Shakespeare in the Pines fundraising event will take place in the Center’s outdoor amphitheater located in the picturesque, natural setting of Ponderosa pines. Tickets to Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, a fairy tale filled with love and loss, are $60 per person and include a catered reception. The proceeds from these tickets will go to support the center’s nature-based programs for children. Tickets are available by calling 928-776-9550 or online at hcsitp19.eventbrite.com   Sponsored by Lamb Cadillac.

A performance of Shakespeare in the Pines begins with an opening reception and includes catered appetizers by El Gato Azul, local beer from Prescott Brewing Company, wine, coffee and desserts from Petite Treats. Laark Productions creates a lively evening of Shakespearean entertainment. The audience is invited to become part of the world of the play as this site-specific theater company begins the performance among the guests at the reception.

In The Winter’s Tale, a madly jealous king condemns his innocent wife and his best friend to death. A baby princess is abandoned in a distant shore where she is adopted by a kindly shepherd. A prince disguises himself as a peasant to woo a lovely maiden. The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare is a fairy tale filled with love and loss, innocence and betrayal, the power of truth and an opportunity for redemption.
