Halloween Events Bring Affordable Frights and Fun to Prescott

  • Prescott, AZ (Oct. 17) - October brings with it a new color palette as the leaves turn, the nights grow chillier and the smell of wood smoke drifts on the evening breeze. While kids prepare their Halloween costumes (and parents prepare for bellyaches from too much candy), revelers get ready for a host of seasonal events. Following is a selection of events and activities in Prescott to help you celebrate All Hallow's Eve.

Annual ZooFest at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, Oct. 20

  • Join Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary for its annual ZooFest celebration. This event will take place on October 20, 2012 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at HPZS. Festivities include games, special animal feedings, crafts, animal encounters, special demonstrations, concessions and much more.

    During this event we will also be holding a canned food drive for the Yavapai Food Bank. Anyone who brings in a canned food item will receive $1 off admission. Limit of one can per person. For more information please contact call 928-778-4242 or visit

Day of the Dead: “Dia de los Muertos” Celebration At Smoki Museum in Prescott October 28

  • Prescott, AZ (Oct. 10, 2012) – The Smoki Museum is pleased to present the 5th Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Prescott. This year's celebration includes Mariachi Lucerna, Ballet Folkloric, traditional foods, a procession into the Yavapai Citizen's Cemetery, altar presentations and much more.


    Join us for a day filled with music, dance, margaritas, cerveza, food, and vendors like Mata Ortiz pottery, SueZ’s baked goods, and Dancing Skeleton. Schedule of events follows below.

Highlands Center for Natural History Expanding Free, Guided Walks to City of Prescott

  • Prescott, AZ (Oct. 2, 2012) - The Highlands Center for Natural History and the City of Prescott—through a Yavapai County Community Foundation grant—will offer guided naturalist walks at both Watson Lake and the Constellation Trail every Wednesday at 10:00 am in October and November.

    The walks will alternate between the two locations from week to week, and while they are free, parking fees at Watson Lake Park and the Constellation Trailhead may apply (though the City waives parking fees on Wednesdays).

34th Annual Folk Music Festival at Sharlot Hall Museum, Oct. 6 & 7

  • The grounds at Sharlot Hall Museum will be trilling with the sound of guitars, mandolins, banjos and fiddles on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, as we welcome the 34th Annual Folk Music Festival. Four stages (the Sharlot Hall Museum Theater, Gazebo, Amphitheater and Showcase Stage) will host these esteemed artists from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday.

5th Annual Prescott Area Artists Studio Tour Oct. 5-7

  • Prescott, AZ (Sep. 26, 2012) - Visit artists doing what they do best: creating. The 5th Annual Prescott Area Artists' Studio Tour on October 5-7 provides a unique opportunity to see masters of a wide range of artistic techniques including wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics, woodworking, painting, jewelry making, mixed media, sculpture, fiber art and glass demonstrate their skill.

The Folk Sessions 9 Year Celebration

  • On Sunday, October 14th, The Folk Sessions presents a very special concert celebrating nine years broadcasting on the KJAZZ Radio Network and presenting the finest in acoustic music concerts throught Yavapai County. The Highlands Center will host this afternoon concert featuring Linda Bilque and Hannes Kvaran, Dennis Garvey, Layne Longfellow, Soul Creek and Weatherglass with Callaghan Howard.
